Let's Make an Herbal Scrapbook

Since we are learning about herbs, we may as well have a place to keep all of our knowledge right at our fingertips. We may even wish to pass this book along to future generations.

I love learning about herbs and making herbal concoctions, but I also have many other interests including crafting with bakeable clay… i.e. Sculpey. So in this project we will be making the cover of our scrapbook out of clay and we may even make some elements to decorate our pages. The main goal is to have fun and bring some joy into our lives. Heaven knows we deserve some joy after 2020!

Pinterest has some really good videos on making a sculpey clay book cover. Check these out to get some ideas about how you would like your scrapbook cover to look.

This will be an ongoing project every month, which is why I am using the canvas panels for the covers so I can easily add pages as I go. I have decided to bind this scrapbook with a srew post binding. This binding method allows for spacers to be placed for thicker folded pages and more pages can be easily added to the scrapbook. I found a video with complete instructions for screw post binding by Kristi Warren. Watch it here.

We will get started on this book cover on Sunday, January 24, 2021, so gather your materials and get ready to have some fun with clay! This is a kid friendly project (except of course the baking part). I’m excited to make this scrapbook and I really hope you’ll join me.
