Calendula Projects

February is pretty cold here in the beautiful state of Colorado, so I chose calendula as the February 2021 herb of the month, not only because of it’s skin soothing benefits, but because of it’s lymphatic action. As you know by now, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2018 and although my C-reactive protein (CRP) is now in the normal range, my erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR, or sed rate) is still pretty high. The sed rate is another indicator of inflammation in the body. My doctor doesn’t know why my number is so high. It seems logical to me, that my lymphatic system may not be totally up to par, so I will also be using this herb to hopefully clear up any stagnation in my lymph system. As always, I have researched to make sure there are not any contraindications using this herb in conjunction with methotrexate.

Following are the projects we will be making with this sunny little flower:

We will begin by making a tincture and infused oil, as these will be the bases for our future projects. The “other concoctions” category are projects we will make that don’t use either the tincture or the infused oil. As we complete the projects, the name will turn green and will become a clickable link.
